The cutting is very aggressive and it makes large ice chips or chunks rather than snow. It only has one blade rather than two, but that single blade seems to take a larger more aggressive bite, with an end result similar to K-Drill speed. Drilling speed is similar to the K-drills I have used. When it comes to cutting speed, it’s slower than a new strikemaster, but in our conditions that difference will start to flip the other way before too long. The 8” was also over $100 cheaper than the 7.5 K. I also didn’t want a 7.5 and nowhere seemed to have an 8.5 in stock. I have used a bunch of K-drills and wanted to try something different. This mainly left me with the options of the Jiffy Torch or the K-Drill. For this reason I was looking for a chipper blade since shavers dont last very long. There are times when we are drilling near shore for tip ups and basically making grey or sandy colored snow. I live in the Canadian prairies where wind and dirty ice are essentially guaranteed. Some of the comments include Jiffy ripping off K-drill by using chipper blades (jiffy has been using chipper blades for over 50 years), Jiffy is garbage, the world doesn’t need another auger, they are late to the game so they wasted their time and nobody will buy them, etc. Most of it has been somewhat nonsensical and from people who have not tried it. ![]() I will preface this by saying I have seen a lot of negative criticism of this auger.
